Top issues during term (7)(Development)
Prohousing Designation Program participation
Could unlock additional state grant funding, including for the city's tiny homes and MCAP homeless programs.
Court-ordered approval of 301 Jackamar housing project
Speakers warned a legal appeal would be costly and pointed to roughly $1.3 million already spent annually on city legal fees.
Round One Entertainment at The Shops of Montebello
New jobs and a draw for shoppers at the mall, though specific revenue figures weren't discussed.
Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District (EIFD)
No new taxes — but a quarter to half of future property tax growth in the 230-acre boundary would be earmarked instead of flowing to the general fund.
New Planet Fitness at Montebello Mix Shopping Center
The project brings about 12 full-time and 4-8 part-time jobs, mostly local hires.
Old Dominion Freight Line facility expansion
No direct city cost; the company's investment could add jobs and strengthen an existing local employer.
Whittier Boulevard property acquisition
Adds $3.28 million in spending to this year's budget.
